About this site
Go Went Gone is the reference companion to the Irregular Verbs app — the same 175 verbs, the same forms, on the open web.
Who makes it
It is built and maintained by Grigory Frolov, an independent developer working through OZ Web Expert. The same person writes the app, the verb data and these pages — there is no content farm behind this, and nothing here is generated by scraping other sites.
His other work, and how this one came about, are on his personal site — including the write-up of this project, which covers the decisions behind the app and this site.
Irregular Verbs is the first of a family of small learning apps, and Grigory is looking to build a team in Australia around them — if that sounds like your kind of work, get in touch.
Where the data comes from
The three forms of each verb are standard, checkable facts of English grammar. The selection and ordering are our editorial work: 175 verbs chosen for how often they actually occur in modern English, split into Core, Intermediate and Advanced, so a learner meets the useful ones first rather than working alphabetically through a list where abide comes before be.
Every definition and example sentence on this site was written by us for this project. Where usage genuinely splits — burnt and burned, got and gotten, dove and dived — both forms are listed rather than one being silently picked.
Corrections
English changes, and reference material can be wrong. If you find a form, definition or example that looks off, please tell us — corrections are made in the app's data and appear here on the next deploy, so the site and the app never disagree.
The app
The site answers a question; the app makes the answer stick. It drills all 175 verbs with spaced repetition, works offline, has no ads, no account and no tracking, and is free.
Practise all 175 verbs on your phone
Spaced repetition brings each verb back right before you would forget it. Three difficulty modes, a 60-second Blitz, streaks and a verb collection. Free, works offline, no account.
